The smile isn't the goal

An excellent girl is so happy on her proposal

She is a famous actress in Vietnam. I was just scrolling through social media when I came across her post announcing her engagement. What struck me how genuinely happy she looked. The joy on her face was impossible to miss.

She was already admired long before becoming an actress. People knew her for academic achievements, and success in English competitions. Later, she built a successful acting career and became even more well-known. In my opinion, she has many things people aspire to have: beauty, intelligence, reputation, and financial success.

What stayed with me was the happiness on her face when she found the man she wanted to spend her life with. That kind of joy felt so genuine that it lingered in my mind long after I had finished reading her post.

Sometimes, I pay attention to small details and quietly hope that one day I might experience something similar.

I rarely share these thoughts with my friends anymore. Most of them already have families of their own, and they don't usually respond to my messages with the same excitement I feel. Perhaps they think I focus too much on little things or that I tend to romanticize moments instead of facing reality.

But I see it differently. Small details often carry the deepest meaning because they are often the result of something much bigger and more important. A genuine smile, for example, doesn't appear out of nowhere. It is a clue to something much deeper: contentment, inner peace, and confidence in the choices a person has made.

Maybe she has found someone who is truly the right match for her—someone whose values, personality, lifestyle, life goals, and outlook on life are exactly what she has been looking for. That maybe why the happiness on her face looked so real.

It made me realize that perhaps the smile isn't the goal. What I long for is what creates the smile.
