Nguyễn Nhật Ánh Nguyen Nhat Anh is a well-known Vietnamese author who writes for teenagers. His books are interesting and funny. What I like the most is how he set the names of his books. It is extremely poetic, very Vietnamese, and charming (I see the content, words, sentences are occasionally written repeatedly only because it is written only by a person, isn't it). Some of these: 1. Cô gái đến từ hôm qua (The girl from yesterday). It is translated to English, so it is not very Vietnamese. Can you feel it? In Vietnamese, it is so poetic every single word. There is a movie and a song set this name, too.                                                2. Ngồi khóc trên cây (Sitting crying on the tree): I also used to sit crying on the tree in my childhood. These things make him become famous since he writes things from a kid's childhood in Vietnam, easy t...

An Amazing Job

Image
I’d talk a little bit about my job I used to work for within nine months. I'm always proud when remembering this job. I worked as technical support at hearLIFE hearing care center - MEDEL in Hanoi. My duties in this office include: performing audiometry measurements, making ear mounds, fitting hearing aid for the customers, supporting measurement by playing with children, check cochlear implants, go to the hospital for surgery, and lots of related stuff. Having the opportunity to work here, that was the first time ever I know about the correct hearing loss. I work with customers who have hearing loss at all levels, from mild to profound. Each person has a different condition. Some of them are very rich, the others are not. Some of them care about hear ability a lot, the others don’t care much. Some of them are quite comfortable. The others are not. Some of them have knowledge about hearing loss. The others are not.  Do you know what? When you think about hearing loss, you usually t...

You've never actually stood there and looked up at that beautiful ceiling, seen that.  If I ask you about women, you'd probably give me ...

English learning #2

R ecognizing between the American accent and the British Accent Maybe you've already known the difference between American English and British English regarding spelling such as traveled and travelled, recognize and recognise, vocabulary such as soccer and football, sneakers and trainers, and a little bit about grammar.  If you are struggling to recognize American accent and British accent. I have a tip for you. You can watch videos on youtube mentioning Americans are attempting or pretending to speak a British accent or vice versa. In these cases, you can distinguish between the oral mouth, intonation by the way how they are saying. Likewise, the difference is between Canadians with Americans or Australians. The British accent has up and down intonation more frequency even in a word than American's. In my opinion, it has to make a lot of effort than the American accent. However, it is pretty interesting to mimic.  Hanoi, August 12, 2020
