An Amazing Job
I’d talk a little bit about my job I used to work for within nine months. I'm always proud when remembering this job. I worked as technical support at hearLIFE hearing care center - MEDEL in Hanoi. My duties in this office include: performing audiometry measurements, making ear mounds, fitting hearing aid for the customers, supporting measurement by playing with children, check cochlear implants, go to the hospital for surgery, and lots of related stuff. Having the opportunity to work here, that was the first time ever I know about the correct hearing loss. I work with customers who have hearing loss at all levels, from mild to profound. Each person has a different condition. Some of them are very rich, the others are not. Some of them care about hear ability a lot, the others don’t care much. Some of them are quite comfortable. The others are not. Some of them have knowledge about hearing loss. The others are not.
Do you know what? When you think about hearing loss, you usually think about the elder, right? It is similar to me before. However, the vast majority of customers coming to my company are children. The old person is a small part. Kids have this kid and that kid as well. Those kids never heard anything, hearing loss when was given birth. Those kids have a lisp. Those kids have hearing loss suddenly. What do you think? Is there a way to help these kids? Yep. It depends on what level they are hearing loss and will have suitable methods to apply. This is an amazing field. It's highly helpful.
(I confirm that Sheldon implemented the right technique)
Let me tell you about the first day I worked here. To begin with, I have to play with children. Obviously, I was very worried in the first place. I was afraid that I would not be a good player with kids. Soon after that, I was fallen in love with this task. I love those kids. I was readily willing to play with any kids who come to my company.
Also, in this company, I met great co-workers. There are people who make me impressed and respected so much. They immersed and truly devoted themselves to work. They are very kind and nice to the customers and colleges.
Also, in this company, I can feel it, the mother's great affection and sacrifice. Normally, I also feel it like my mom, my dad. However, in these cases, the kid's parents are very challenging. It's maybe ten times more. Why is that? Having equipment in your kid's head does not mean your son or daughter will be able to hear and speak like a normal person. After surgery, you have to teach him or her every litter thing, how to pronounce, how to put your kid's lip correctly by using different methods. There are special teachers who will help you with these tasks. However, mostly your kids play with you at home. Therefore, You are an important person for the development of your kid.
I was very touched and thrilled when took part in pronunciation lessons of these special kids. I saw the mother's eyes look at her dear son. I also noticed the kid was attempting to pronounce. I cried at that moment. I also saw a mother taking her son to a surgical table. Her tears fell when her son under anesthesia. It is hard to express by words. It is truly and sincerely love. There are a lot of cases but I am not able to tell you all of it here. It is truly amazing.
(This is very challenging for who are the mother and father. It needs to have belief. You believe that your kids can hear and talk someday. Your kids were born in a special way. You also have a special way to raise and care for them. You will have more time close to your son or daughter. You will teach them every single thing. Be stronger and believe)
Also, in this company, I see kids can talk like a normal person. I was very surprised. It was incredible. I had more belief in my job. However, other kids are not. They don't have any change. It depends on many factors. I wish all kids are like kids who can talk normally. How great it is!
Why I love this job? It met some of my basic requirements such as: an open workspace, don't force employees to do something out of regulation and of course, what I like the most is the work contributes. I met my customers. I met kids. It is my motivation to work day in and day out. I called their name. I never want to forget those names. My company is different from other services. Another service might always have new customers, even just one time. However, in my company, I met them every week, every month. We care for customers until they don't need us such as until their kids can talk normally. After, they just need an annual check.
However, it is not totally perfect. There is something I am not satisfied with. It is a company, you know, it has to have profit and something else.
We are so lucky when was born normally. We can hear the natural sound. We can talk when we get big. We become a singer, a poet easier than these kids. We live and learn and go to school, go to the university, to become doctor, teacher, Ph.D. or sort of. These kids spend so much time or even totally their life learning to hear and speak. I hope with rapidly increasing technologies promising to help these kids have a shorter period to adapt to social life.
PS:
1. You need to care more about your hearing ability. You can check annual. Also your family and relatives. Especially, your kids, when kids display something strange like slow to speak, lisp, etc. You need to go to the hospital as soon as possible.
2. Go to the hearing care center immediately when having doubt about hearing
Those days, love forever and always

P.S There is a Japanese film titled "A silent voice" mentioning this matter. It's fairly interesting. I recommend you watch it. I watched an English dub version.
