The sea
Good afternoon, I am thrilled you are here.
Do you like the ocean? I have a special love for the sea because several reasons as follow:
1) My childhood is associated with the sea. My hometown is not far to get there. Occasionally, my friends, my cousin, and I went to the beach to collect snails or anything can bring back home. We played on the beautiful and wild shore and often scare each other stories about the ocean and so on.
2) The most influenced reason is the sea and its belonging possessing a lot of creative poems or songs. They are matched with incredible meanings based on particular and unique traits.
For instances:
ĐỪNG VÍ EM LÀ BIỂN (Trần Thanh Tùng)
"Đừng ví em là biển
Sâu thẳm và bao la
Thuyền nan em bé nhỏ
Không xa được bến bờ
Đừng ví em là biển
Nước mặn chát chân trời
Giữa mênh mông vẫn khát
Không uống được anh ơi
...
Em không là biển khơi
Em chỉ là em thôi
Đừng ví em là biển
..."
Temporary translation:
DO NOT COMPARE ME WITH THE SEA
"Do not compare me with the sea
Deep and vast
I am a small boat
not going far away from the port
Do not compare me with the sea
with salty seawater
which cannot drink
...
I am not the sea
I am only myself
Do not compare me with the sea"
SÓNG (Xuân Quỳnh)
"Dữ dội và dịu êm
Ồn ào và lặng lẽ
Sóng không hiểu nổi mình
Sóng tìm ra tận bể
...
Sóng bắt đầu từ gió
Gió bắt đầu từ đâu
Em cũng không biết nữa
Khi nào ta yêu nhau
..."
WAVES
"Violent and peaceful
Noisy and quiet
Wave doesn't understand itself
It travels to the ocean
...
The wave begins with winds
Where does the wind begin with?
I do not know either,
When we fall in love
..."
There are more Vietnamese literature mentioning the wonderful image of the sea
(To be updated)
Coincidentally, two poems are depicted with the girl's affection. I wish you can understand the meanings of them through the translations. In general, the sea typically corresponds with immensity, mystery, potential danger, or alone itself. What an impressive nature! Do you have any references? Please let me know, that is my great honor.
