Hello Hello Hello. I'm glad to be here today to tell you these things. You know, English. Ready, steady, go.

To clearly understand English, with a foreign, grammar plays a central role. When you know these rules, it helps you read English materials more efficiently. The following examples demonstrate my saying. 

1) A singular noun or a plural noun

ex) There must be a difference between cellphones

2) A sentence has to have a main verb. This verb should be followed by a form with a certain tense i.e. simple present or past tense. Another verb that is in a different form might be a participle or even an adjective i.e V-ing, Ved. 

ex) I like that girl wearing a blue T-shirt

ex) The detailed information was attached below

My example was so simple. However, when you read a book or paper. It will be more complicated. You have to pay attention to get an author was trying to say. Where is the main verb, where is a verb added just for clear explanation.

3) Knowing the roles of an adjective, an adverb is really important. Once reading a sentence, you must notice whether it is fully a noun phrase. 

ex)

Or contains more meaning which I didn't notice in my mother tongue. When I read in English. It made me so confused. Or is to express the same meaning for a thing or contrast meaning you must choose.   

ex) That is called a fridge or a refrigerator 

ex) This mechanism is called A or B

I was struggling with working on scientific papers only because I didn't know A and B are similar or contrastive with each other. In the beginning, everything is brand new to me.  Thus, vocabulary, concentration, and experience are also keys to reading

What do you think? Are those mentioned above a barrier to you? I totally agree that they extremely suck. Only think about reading an arbitrary Vietnamese sentence, I have to identify and classify where are nouns, adjectives, adverbs, participle or this is the main verb or a helping verb. It is uneasy at all.

For instance:

ex) Cái anh (người mà) mặc áo đỏ đang nói chuyện với Giáo sư Cù đấy tên là Huy và là một chàng trai rất thú vị.

Temporary translation: That guy (who is) wearing a red T-shirt and talking with Prof. Cu is Huy and he is an incredible man.

Wearing and talking are helping verbs and tobe verbs are the main verbs. Omitting "who" makes a sentence more natural. As a native speaker, I haven't determined about grammar such that way beyond literatures at elementary and secondary school. However, they are the keys for foreigners learning a new language. 

 

Fortunately, It's gonna be fine like lightning-fast reflexes or habits resulting in reading regularly. 

    

--- Tip for improving your English

1) Using the prefix to enhance your vocabulary as well as making your sentence shorter

ex) It is incorrect = It is not correct

2) Using an adjective to describe a noun. Because the order is in a sentence between English and Vietnamese is different. In Vietnamese, an adjective is behind by a noun. By contrast, the adjective is before a noun in  English. To make a sentence much shorter but still ensure meanings, using an adjective instead of another sentence to describe the noun. 

It is understandable = I can understand that

This scanned document is really informative = This document which is scanned is really informative

An experienced person told me that practice cannot make perfect but consistent practice can. I totally agree with it = A person who has a lot of experience told me that practice cannot make perfect but consistent practice can. I totally agree with it.

P/S: Sometimes I feel like my blogs were written very in detail. I was confused about this. Also, it is the same with this context. The thing is because I show you every single thing. It turns out that I take away your thought. I take away your journey to gain your own knowledge. It would be much better when you explore it by yourself. Anyway, I will think carefully about this matter. I hope you have your experience and share it with me, probably.
